Australia, to date, has remained relatively immune from the controversies in contract law and theory which have agitated lawyers on both sides of the Atlantic in recent times. The essays in this volume suggest this state of affairs will not continue. Much in our received wisdom is, here, subjected to critical appraisal and challenge. If the volume serves as a catalyst to a renewed interest in contract law in this country it will have served its purpose.
